This one is a toughie for me. I try to keep in mind how I want to feel after the meal, yet that does not always override my taste buds. It doesn’t make sense that we deliberately do things that we KNOW are going to make us miserable.

I am just begining with the program (Chapter 7) and I can already see the changes. I feel as if finally my inner-self has been taken care of, I feel so much more compassion towards myself and why I have been overeating. I really think this is the best starting point when wanting to make permanent changes, being good to yourself…
I have always said that the trick to lose weight had to be somewhere inside me because, as you say, I am a walking nutrition encyclopedia! Well after just these few chapters, not only do I feel more compassionate towards myself, I am in a better mood, more patient and much more happier because I don’t have these negative self-talk all day long inside my head.

Thank you Renee for this wonderful gift…a gift of a lifetime! Hope to meet you sometime…

I’ve found that not only do I have to ask myself how I want to feel after a big meal…I also have to IMAGINE feeling the way I want to feel. I’ve noticed that Renee uses this technique when we envision ourselves the way we’d like our bodies to be and “step in” and really feel what it would be like to be that way, so I started using the same approach before meals. When I imagine putting down my knife and fork, I imagine my stomach feeling satisfied but not uncomfortably full. I imagine that maybe a few hours later I have plenty of room for a glass of wine (that always seems to happen at special occasions!). I imagine reflecting on the meal and appreciating the flavors and textures of the food, without feeling at all guilty. I even imagine telling myself, ‘Of course you don’t want to eat anymore! You’re a naturally slender person, and you want to make your body feel GOOD, not stuffed from eating too much!’ Maybe it’s silly, but it works!

What has really helped me with this situations is the “away-from motivation”. Just to think what I will be telling myself AFTER I have overeaten, I really prefer NOT to overeat. Now I like what I say to myself when I feel in control.
We take so much time reassuring the people we care for and take so little time to reassure ourselves for all the things we do right. Feeling good about myself is the best platform to stay on the path of a naturally slender person.

I asked myself the question and I answered, “Satisfied and happy.”

A couple hours later, I was overjoyed and had energy that I just used it up by exercising away the night! (lol) Now, I can enjoy eating without restrictions which makes eating a better and happier experience.

I just wanted to share this fascinating article- I know Renee has talked about how feeling hungry is a GOOD thing, and about how it makes our meals more enjoyable, but this takes it to a new level!

Although I am not a serious overweight person, i have been thinking (over the past few months up till now) that i am too obsessed with food and overeating. of course i knew i would feel bad after overeating, but at the moment of eating, i could think of nothing but piling the food in front of me until i felt too full to even move around. too full to take my little walk back to the dorm. i got over this habit throught the use of antidepressant, but i was constantly afraid that i might get it back…
and now i have Renee’s help. you are, truly a star! I have learned to love myself more and more, and be thankful for the smallest things of my life… and now I know that I am not living life to eat, but rather I eat to live my life to the fullest!
    Thanks Renee!

ps. one question i have is that, at the very beginning of the episodes, I imagined the way i wanted to look? and as i moved on, you said hold on to the image really tight and then let it go altogether… now I am a little confused here because I am not sure whether i should be keep thinking of the fab body i would like to be in, or I should throw away the image and rather learn to enjoy my life and consequently make that dream body mine.
