Inside Out Weight Loss: Aligning Mind, Body and Spirit for Lasting Change

Should you eat less when you hit a plateau?

Here’s a good nuts and bolts question from a listener, and my response follows.

In March I began working on making healthier choices and dropped 9 lbs so far. But for the past 3 weeks I’ve lost nothing. I listened to your episodes on plateaus and have found a new appreciation and understanding. But I’ve always wondered this: When I hit a plateau, if I continue what was working before am I going to eventually naturally break through the plateau or do I have to change things up (reduce calories and change my exercise routine) to ever get more results?

Esther L.

Good question Esther.  There is no one rule here. First, focus on appreciation for where you are. Second, set your intent to release more weight.  Third, if you are less hungry, then you should eat less. If you are the same hungry, and have done one and two, then you might want to change up your exercise.

Enjoy!
